Automotive production grew 21.4% in April

The automotive production registered in April a growth of 21.4% in comparison with the same month of the previous year and thus the first quarter of the year closed with an increase of 20.4% of according to the data revealed by ADEFA, the entity that gathers the terminals.

With these records, the national car manufacturers renewed their optimism towards the future. Based on the behavior registered in these first four months from the association that groups the terminals indicated that "the projections estimated for the year are still on the rise" .

The managers of the automotive sector maintain the forecast of a national production of 565,000 vehicles, 20% over 2017. Meanwhile, exports could reach 300,000 units, a 43% growth compared to 2017.

The projected improvement in production and exports is driven for the expected releases of domestic products and the increase in production as a result of the investment plans that are being implemented.

"As we have been anticipating, the main pillars of the industry - production, export and sales - continue registering a sustained year-on-year growth ", said Luis Fernando Peláez Gamboa president of ADEFA.

Regarding April's wholesale sales sector sold 72,748 units to the dealer network, a volume that was 6.8% higher than the same period last year. ADEFA highlighted that the sales of domestic products registered a growth of 9.6%, showing an advance superior to the total sales that increased 6.8%.

With the partial of April, the accumulated of the first four-month period, was located in 290,495 units sold to the network, that is, there was an increase of 13.8% in its year-on-year comparison.

Also, from the automotive entity reported that the sector exported 19,897 vehicles in the last month, a figure that meant a decrease of 28.2% compared to March, and an increase of 7.1% when compared to the volume of the same month of 2017. In the accumulated from January to April, local manufacturers exported a total of 77,245 units, 31.4% over the volume registered in the same period of 2017.
